This is the Movie about the Wilma Rudolph Story where I played her as a kid when i was 4 yrs old. Denzel Washington, Cicley Tyson, & my God Father Joe Seneca (RIP) also Starred in it. I was cast because I had the same physical handicap as a child. I had 3 operations as a kid & wore a leg brace. It was super embarrassing, but definitely built my strong character. Later I did serve on the Howard University Track Team (uh no Olympics for me). Who knew back then? Funny how they called her the Black Gazelle & my Capoeira Teacher named me Gazella (basically because i looked like a dear in headlights when it came time for my 1st roda). My Mom was so proud of me! She called all her friends & my whole family to watch: that’s back when Everybody watched the tv together @ 8pm. We lived in NYC & when i would come to Detroit to visit I was a Superstar in my family. Most of my cousins would tease me but mostly everybody in my Grandmother’s neighborhood would ask me for my autograph for years. I ran across this on Tumblr & somebody actually had me tagged. I was like Woah! n e hoo just figured i’d share it. I never told too many people about my traumatic childhood simply because it was super traumatic. Funny how The Creator knows exactly what’s best for us. I admire Wilma Rudolph for her tenacity, strength, & persistence for over coming her challenges, I respect Denzel Washington & Cicley Tyson for their craft. I loved Joe Seneca as my God Father. & I’m proud to be the first African American Female Fashion Photographer. Some things shape us into the Beautiful Creatures we are. I have learned that owning our truest selves no matter how painful leads to ultimate happiness. No one is perfect. Some people are just good @ covering up. I am grateful to have had so many wonderful experiences & met so many wonderful people. & I am proud to have been a part of this historic project!
